Happy Holidays

Hello and happy Wednesday!   Rosemary here today.  Can you believe that October is already half over?  Christmas will be here before you know it so I'm sharing a Christmas card that I made using the new Elegant Christmas stamp set as well as the new Sweet Gingerbread Add On die set.  I also used a couple of different techniques on this card.

I have been busy (once, again, lol!) making cards for several other things going on (one of which will be occurring next week!) and so my weekly project for the AJVD blog got done at the last minute.  Despite the time crunch as I indicated above I did a couple of different techniques on my card:  working with alcohol inks on Tim Holtz sparkle paper and ink blending with distress oxide inks.  I had gotten the sparkle paper in a card kit that I had purchased, but like a lot of things in my life I never got around to using it.  As I was thinking about what to make for my post I thought about using the tree die from the Sweet Gingerbread Add On die set.  The set also includes a die to create hilly slopes and that gave me my idea to make a snowy scene.  I watched a Tim Holtz video on using alcohol inks on the sparkle paper and then got to work.   I used alcohol inks in shades of green and blue green.  Once I had created the background that I really liked I let it dry completely and then pounced on some additional alcohol ink in Meadow (my darkest green) to give the trees a bit more texture.   I die cut all the elements and set them aside.   I took a white cardstock base and inked the majority of the base with distress oxide ink in blueprint sketch and faded jeans.  I then splattered the base with some water, blotted it off and let it dry.  Once it was dry I splattered the base with some acrylic paint mixed with water.    I let that dry then placed my card base in my stamping tool, lined up the sentiment from Elegant Christmas and stamped it using VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne ink.  Then I finished the card by adhering the snowy slopes and the trees.   The trees really sparkle and glimmer in the light.  Below is a photo that I took to try to catch some of that sparkle.
