Fall Headlines

Good morning! Ardyth here with a couple of cards using the new Headline Type alphabet dies. I LOVE alphabet dies - they are so versatile and this one is a perfect size - big enough so that your sentiment can be your focal point, but not so big that you can't fit it across the card.

I used the same technique, colours, stamp and dies and created two different cards.

To start I grabbed the branch stamp from the Autumn Pumpkins set and I stamped it on a panel of watercolour cardstock as many times as I could fit it, with WOW! Embossing ink. I heat embossed using Brass embossing powder.

Next, I smooshed Sauna, Mandarin Spice, Rouge, Royal Treatment and Queen for a Day inks onto my craft mat and painted them randomly over the panel with a brush. I did about 3 layers, drying between each layer, to get lovely rich colours.

Once the panel was completely dry, I used the alphabet dies to cut out my sentiments.

I knew that a black sentiment strip would really help those colours pop, so I cut one for each card. And then I took the cards in slightly different directions.

For the thank you card, I popped up each letter on the black sentiment strip. I used the same branch stamp and Brass embossing powder and added some stamping to a kraft panel cut with the largest Stitched Dot Rectangle die. I stamped 'you' from the For You sentiment in the Autumn Pumpkings set. I put the whole thing onto a black card base.

For the birthday card, I used a white panel cut with the Stitched Dot Rectangle, and I stamped 'birthday' (from Happy Birthday) in Rouge ink. I used my MISTI and stamped the branch so that it would peek out from the top of the black sentiment strip.

This time I glued the letters directly to the black strip and then popped the whole thing up. I adhered the white panel to a kraft card base.
