tea-riffic gramma...

Hello and happy Wednesday everyone!  Rosemary here with a tea-inspired Mother's Day card for the gramma in your life, as well as a bonus project that is also tea-inspired.  As many of you know the Spring/Summer Coffee Lover's blog hop is in full swing and A Jillian Vance Design is once again a super sponsor.  Make sure that you play along for a chance to win lots and lots and lots of amazing prizes!

I used some pretty patterned paper from Simple Stories along with the fun A Jillian Vance Design Coffee Tea & Me die set as well as the Spill the Tea stamp set.  After die cutting the tea cup I stamped it with the sentiment using Catherine Pooler Black Jack ink.  Black Jack is actually gray and it is one of my favorite gray inks.  I used the medium sized Sentiment Strip die to create the strip behind the tea cup and then die cut the steam swirl from a light pink.   The polka dot paper was die cut with the largest Stitched Dot rectangle die, of course, lol!   Layered everything up and I was done.   Love the sweet and simple design of this card.   Now for my bonus project.

When I made the cross card with the Easter lilies on it (see here) I got the idea to create some Stargazer (Oriental) lilies and have them spilling out of a tea cup.   First up was finding a cup and saucer set that had a motif similar to a Stargazer.  My youngest and I headed to his favorite antique store and as I getting ready to leave one of the booths I turned around and there it was... the perfect cup and saucer set.  The flowers are actually clematis, but close enough!  Then I had to die cut all the petals and leaves to create the flowers.  Once that was done I did some quick coloring of the petals using two shades of pink Le Plume alcohol markers and a red one for the small dots.   Two shades of green Le Plume alcohol markers were used for the leaves.  I didn't worry too much about doing perfect coloring since flowers aren't perfect!  Once that was done I got to work on making the flowers.  I spritzed all the petals with water to make it easier to add the curve to each petal.  When they were dry I adhered each flower together (the most time consuming part) and added the flower centers (also colored with Le Plume alcohol markers).  I used some thin wire to create stems for three of the flowers.   I used a hot glue gun to attach the cup to the saucer and then filled the cup with floral foam and then glued on some moss.  I then began placing all the flowers.   It isn't exactly how I thought it would turn out, but I'm very, very pleased all the same!
