a tropical vibe...

Aloha everyone! Summer break has started for my youngest and he is super happy!  In keeping with the fact that it is summer A Jillian Vance Design has a fun new stamp set in the store with a trendy tropical vibe and I used that set to make two cards to share.  This fun new set is called Aloha.

When I saw this new set in the store I knew I had to get it and get it fast!  I decided to create some simple cards using several inks from my small, but growing, collection of Catherine Pooler Inks.  You can find all the CP Inks in the AJVD store!  For my cards I used Limoncello, Bellini and Black Jack.  The green ink is from another company.    I placed my cardstock in my mini MISTI to do the stamping so that I could make sure that I would get everything lined up properly and to make sure that I could get a nice solid image each time.  After I stamped the pineapple I just had to give it sunglasses for a fun touch!  Once the stamping was done I die cut the panels with the largest rectangle die from the Stitched Dot Rectangle die set.

I love how nicely the Black Jack ink layers over both the pineapple and the flowers in the second card.  Black Jack is actually a deep gray color that I really like a lot!  As I was stamping the pineapple I noticed that the crown looks somewhat like a damask image and thought it would be fun to use just that image to create a border or background!

Can't wait to use the fun flamingo image in the set.  It is a line image so that means the are coloring options to be explored... YAY!  Look for a card featuring the flamingo as well as this beautiful hibiscus image in the very near future!  Going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of bright and cheerful.
