Stretch Your Dies

Hello! Time is flying by as usual and spring is in full force here now. The trees are blossoming and putting out new leaves, the daffodils and tulips are going to town. I love it! I wanted to make a card full of spring colors and also show you a tip for getting extra miles out of your dies.

Does that stenciling in the background look familiar? I used a cut from the Quatrefoil Cover Plate Die (I love this die but you probably guessed that) as a stencil!

First I prepared a background using Fossilized Amber, Broken China and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Inks. Then I cut a cover plate out of sturdy cardstock. I laid the cut over the background (you could tape it with a bit of washi to make sure it doesn't move) and applied Metallic Gold Embossing Paste through the die cut in a few places.

I'm keeping the Cover Plate 'stencil' to use on another card – you'll see soon. ;-)

Thanks for stopping by! I hope this little tip gives you some ideas on new ways to use your dies. Have a great week!
