Lisa Hoel – Gratitude Card

Hello there, it's Lisa Hoel with an October guest post! Fall is my favorite season and I love creating projects with the colors and textures of autumn. Today I have created a thank you card using a fun technique to create the background (it's easy as pie!)

The background is a rectangle of Ranger's Sticky Back Canvas cut to fit the front of my card blank. It comes in white and natural colors, I happened to have natural. You are going to create a resist on the canvas by stamping with acrylic paint. First I "inked up" my Wood Grain stamp by scribbling some cream acrylic craft paint onto my craft mat. (It doesn't take much!) I used a brayer to spread it out into an even layer. You can either use the brayer to apply the paint to the stamp or just tap the stamp into your paint puddle if you don't have too much paint in it. You don't want globs of paint going into the crevices of the stamp. Quickly stamp the canvas using firm, even pressure.

Important! Immediately clean your brayer and stamp before the paint dries! It can dry especially quickly on the stamp. An old toothbrush works well for scrubbing off the paint.

Once the paint is dry on your canvas, mist it with water first to dampen the fabric then spray with mists or apply stains or other inks to it. You can spray it with more water to make the colors blend. The parts stamped with the acrylic paint will resist the color! Experiment with different fabrics and substrates to obtain different effects. =)

Thanks for stopping by today. Make some time for creative fun!
