happy new year!

The new year is almost upon us!  I hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas with their family and friends.  We got a partial white Christmas here in the Pacific Northwest.  It started snowing late on Christmas day.  This post is a little bittersweet as this is my last post as a member of the A Jillian Vance Design team.  It was a hard decision for me to make, but it was one that I had to make.  Don't worry though... you may see me popping in now and then as a guest designer!

The card is pretty simple.  A shaker with some embossing and die cutting, but boy did it give me some trouble!  I took three tries before I got the embossing right!  And in the process I had to change the design of the card a little bit.  But that is how it goes sometimes, right?!   I used the new Stitched Dot Emerald Backdrop dies and the Stitched Dot Hexagon dies for the card.  I die cut the hexagon frame from white glitter cardstock using two of the hexagon dies and then die cut the acetate for the shaker window.  The little star bursts are from the Happy New Year stamp set and were embossed in white on black cardstock.  I then die cut the piece with the second largest Stitched Dot Emerald die.  I poured all of my shaker bits on to the center of this piece and carefully adhered the hexagon over the top.  I then die cut the largest Stitched Dot Emeral from white and adhered it to the shaker element.  Light gray cardstock was die cut with the largest rectangle backdrop die, adhered to a white cardstock base and then I added the shaker panel.  The word hello and the 2022 were die cut from silver cardstock, then twice more from scrap cardstock and layered everything.  Then I simply glued them to the shaker element.
