give thanks...

Hello and happy October everyone!  Hope your October is off to a great start.  As is generally the case in the Pacific Northwest we are having a soggy one!  But the leaves are falling and even with everything wet it still looks so pretty!  My card today features the new Bountiful Basket die set and one of my very favorite AJVD die sets... Leaves & Petals!

For this card I did a little surgery on the basket and removed the handle.  I wanted to create a bushel like basket for my card.  This basket also has some foiling on it.  I did some ink blending on the background with distress oxide inks in Tumbled Glass, Prized Ribbon and Rustic Wilderness.  I also did some ink blending with a cloud stencil and white pigment ink.  I did create a bit of a problem for myself by using Gathered Twigs to stamp the sentiment from Autumn Pumpkin.  I didn't wait long enough for it to dry and as I was putting everything together I smeared the ink not once, but twice.  I had to fix at least one of the smears because it was pretty bad, but I'm not really pleased with what I had to do.  Sometimes that happens, right?!  For the leaves I used watercolor cardstock and a palette of watercolors in red, orange, yellow and brown.  When the piece was dry I die cut all my leaves.  I added a little bit of Gathered Twigs distress oxide ink to the edges of the leaves and then arranged them as you see on the card front.  I finished off the card with tiny gold sequins.  These sequins figured into my fix for the smear I created!
