sunflower cards!

Hello and happy Wednesday!  Rosemary here with two cards that I made with the brand new Sweet Sunflower die set and Sweet Sunflower stamp set.  This is part of the June release from A Jillian Vance Design.  This new release is AWESOME!  I love the Sweet Sunflower die and actually made a couple other projects that I will be sharing at a later date.   I actually got the idea for the cards I'm sharing today as I was making the other projects.   Here is a photo of the two cards together:

Here are the cards individually:

This is a mini slimline card.  I die cut the kraft cardstock with the largest Mini Slim Backdrop die.   I then die cut the Sweet Sunflower from some fun yellow polka dot patterned paper and the leaf from green polka dot patterned paper.  I also die cut the stem from the green polka dot paper (unfortunately I don't know which die set it belongs to!).   Additional pieces were cut from scrap cardstock.   I temporarily adhered the outline of the sunflower to the panel and then inlaid the pieces of the petals starting with the pieces cut from scrap paper.  Once I had the first layer down I carefully removed the outline and layered on the rest of the petals.  I adhered the stem and then adhered the leaf using the same method for the sunflower.   I was so excited to make the card that I made the mistake of putting the panel on my card base not thinking that it might be hard to stamp the sentiment.  I was able to to stamp the sentiment, but it would have turned out better if I had just waited!   Added some clear sequins for a bit of sparkle.

This card happened because I looked at the outline piece that I didn't use for the first card and thought to myself "I really should use that for a card".  I layered the other outlines behind the yellow polka dot one and set it aside.    I pulled out distress oxide inks in Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber and ink blended the large circle on a piece of white cardstock.   The panel was then die cut with the largest Stitched Dot rectangle die.  Once, again, I was so excited to get the card put together that I didn't think to wait until I had the stamp set to put the card together.  I adhered outline just around the center circle so there would be some lift to the petals.  I added brown sequins to the center and then popped up the panel on a kraft cardstock base using the AJVD 3D foam tape.  When I got the stamp set I tried to stamp the sentiment, but this time it did not work.  So I die cut a sentiment strip using the Sentiment Strips 2.0 die set, stamped the sentiment, trimmed it down and adhered it to my card front.  Problem solved!
