Celebrate Easter...

Hello and happy March everyone!  Rosemary here on the blog today.  Can you believe that we are almost to the middle of March?  And that Easter is right around the corner?   With Easter in mind my card today features a beautiful sentiment from the He is Risen stamp set, as well as the recently released Flower Burst Cross die set.

I have had the Flower Burst Cross die set for sometime now, but have been waiting to use it until we got closer to Easter.   Since I had never used the die I didn't realize that the die that cuts out the flower bursts also cuts out the cross.  I thought it was one of those dies that only cuts out the interior design.   Once I did the die cutting I realized I wasn't correct, but that is okay things still worked out.  I taped the two dies together and die cut them from glitter cardstock as well as some thin white cardstock.  The two layers were then adhered together to give the overall cross more stability.  I inked up a piece of white cardstock with distress oxide ink in Squeezed Lemonade making sure to create it in somewhat the same shape as the cross.  That was then die cut with the largest Stitched Dot rectangle die.  I had seen a technique that was supposed to create the look of the die cut floating above the card base.  I don't think that it worked out quite that way for my card, but you never know until you try, right?   This technique involves adhering the die cut to acetate and then popping up the acetate piece on the inked panel.   The sentiment was also stamped with the Squeezed Lemonade oxide ink for a softer look.  I used one of the Sentiment Strips die to cut the sentiment to size and then adhered it to the card front along with some pearls.
