hey there... sweet thing

Hello!  Hope your week is going well. Rosemary here and with Valentine's day just around the corner I have one last heart inspired card to share with you.  This one uses the Hey Cupcake stamp set as well as the fun Mini Hearts Cover plate die and the Stitched Dot Heart die set.

I have often said in the past that I am a simple card maker.  Meaning I generally like to keep my cards clean and simple.  But lately I have been trying to add a little more interest to my card.  It is hard given my natural inclination for simple.  What does this have to do with my card?  Well... originally I was just going to have the large open heart and cupcake sitting on a clean white piece of cardstock.  But the more I looked at it the more I decided I needed something else!  At first I was going to use the Mini Heart cover plate die to emboss the hearts, but that gets tricky when you have to die cut the resulting embossed panel.  So I decided to create a stencil with the Mini Hearts die and do some stenciling.  Love the soft background and the interest it adds to the card.   I used two hearts to create the frame that I die cut from brown cardstock one and the multiple times from scrap patterned paper.  I adhered all the hearts together and then attached it to my panel.   The cupcake was stamped on two different patterned papers, trimmed out and paper pieced together.  I adhered that to the center of the heart.  I used the smallest Stitched Dot heart to create the little heart on top of my cupcake.  I covered the heart with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew for some shine.   I die cut some vellum using a die from the Sentiment Strips 2.0 die set, stamped the sentiment with watermark ink and heat embossed in white.  That was adhered and I called her done!  The inspiration for this card comes from the lovely inspiration photo at the Card Concept.  I think my card falls in the clean and layered category.  I will also send this card over to the Paper Players as their challenge this week is heart and/or stars.
