sea you soon...

Hello and happy September everyone!  Rosemary here on the blog today.  My youngest starts school tomorrow (he isn't super happy about that, lol!) so that means that summer is coming to an end.   Can't complain though... we had a great one with our trip to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons!   Today I'm sharing a card with an ocean theme.  The idea actually came to me as I was making this card using the newly released Merry Mistletoe die set.   As I was trying out different color combos for my mistletoe I realized that if you turned the mistletoe upside down you could turn it into kelp!   I just love how my "kelp" turned out!

I still had some alcohol ink panels that I created along time ago and I have been wanting to use them up.  Thankfully one of the panels I created had blues and greens in it so I die cut my "kelp" from that using all three dies.  I had another panel that I made using pink and red alcohol inks and I die cut the mermaid tail from that.  Another panel made with tan and yellow alcohol inks was used for the little shell.   Once I had everything die cut I inked up a piece of white cardstock with distress oxide inks in Vintage Photo, Broken China and Salty Ocean.  I splattered on some water and removed the excess with a paper towel.  I then adhered the entire panel to a cardstock base and began building my little ocean scene.  I started by adhering the mermaid tail and then layering on my "kelp" and the little shell.   Since my card was actually rather flat I was able to place the sentiment from the Shell Yeah stamp set where I wanted it and then stamped it in black ink.
