Good morning! Ardyth here with a pair of Christmas cards using the Poinsettia Die set as a stencil. I was inspired by the way Shelly used these dies on a non-Christmas card, last summer, here.
I used similar blending and masking techniques, but kept a more traditional poinsettia colour scheme. I love the graphic feel this die gives. I started by cutting a negative (and positive) mask out of computer paper. I used temporary adhesive to keep it from moving on my panel and I blended Party Dress ink around the outside edges, then a light coating of Tiki Torch in the centres. Then I went back to the very tips with Rockin Red to add some intensity.
Then I used the positive mask and covered the red petals before using the negative mask several times with Grass Skirt and Lime Rickey ink for the green petals. I cut a negative mask of the flower centre and blended a heavy coating of Tiki Torch over it.
I finished the card with a sentiment from Christmas Star sentiments. I centred the O right over the flower centre.
For the second card, I followed a similar process, but with a lighter hand for a dreamier look. No leaves this time, but I blended some Suede Shoes around the edges. I added some stickles on the flower centres for some subtle sparkle.
