Happy Wednesday everyone!! Well... we just got done with Easter and now it is on to Mother's day!! With that in mind I have a Mother's day card to share with you. This one uses the recently released Pansy Die set and a sentiment from the also recently released Mother's Day stamp set.
When I received the Pansy Die set I had to sit on it for awhile because I knew I wanted to use it in a bit of a different way then you see in the picture that comes with the packaging but I wasn't exactly sure how it would work out. Finally a few days ago I got the chance to execute on my idea and I LOVE how it turned out! I die cut the largest set of pansy dies from watercolor paper and then using an image of a pansy that came up when I googled pansy colored the pieces with my ZIGs (Violet, Medium Violet and Dark Violet). I let the pieces dry for a few minutes and then I took my detail scissors and made little cuts into the pieces to create separate petals. Because the paper was still damp it was easy to shape the petals to create the look of a real pansy. Once the shaping was done I let the pieces dry fully, shaped them a bit more and then glued them together using multi matte medium. The center was added using the multi matte medium and then a drop of Nuvo Jewel Drops was added. I die cut the flower center and the leaves and colored them with ZIGs, as well. A bit of shaping was done to the leaves before they dried. To finish I made a card base from light gray cardstock. A panel of white cardstock was die cut with one of the border dies from the Slippery Slope and Stitched Clouds die set. I placed the panel on the card base and then stamped the sentiment in black ink. The panel was then adhered with pop dots. The leaves were attached first and then the flower. A few enamel dots were added and I was done. My explanation my seem complicated, but it isn't. I hope you will pick up the Pansy Die set and give my idea a try yourself. I already have plans to use the smaller dies to create violas! I'm going to add this to the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of spring showers and/or flowers.
