Hello, it's Lisa Hoel here for a guest post. It's good to be back! I hope everyone is enjoying fall and getting ready for Thanksgiving if you are here in the US. It's not too soon to think about making a few Christmas cards though. ;-) I've created a pair that is sure to please anyone on your list.
Card #1:
I used the Birch Trees die to create a woods background. I cut them four times each out of white and dark grey paper. I carefully separated the outlines and the centers. (Don't throw away those white outlines, stay tuned!) To easily adhere all those little pieces to the card base, I used Ranger's Collage Medium. Working on one small section at a time, spread a thin layer onto the base with a wide paintbrush and carefully lay down the outline part first and lightly position it. Then fit the white center parts into the outline and press all the parts firmly into the medium. I found a pair of tweezers helpful in manipulating the diecut parts. Also, by using a wet adhesive, I could nudge them into place before it dried so they fit perfectly. I highlighted the spaces in between the trees with Perfect Pearls Bronze powder and then glued on the sentiment section and the little red birds.
Now just wait, those white outline diecuts aren't going to waste:
This time I used Stickles Clear Rock Candy to glue down the diecuts. Again working in a small strip at a time, use a wide paintbrush to brush on a layer of the glitter glue. I had a small jar of the Stickles so I could dip my brush right in. I placed the diecuts into position with my tweezers and tapped them into the Stickles with a toothpick. I love the glittery effect it gives behind the trees! I doodled around the sentiment on the oval cut to give it some more interest.
Thanks for stopping by and happy Thanksgiving!
