Ohio State Coaster

A Jillian Vance Design, Kecia Waters
What have you done today to Beat Michigan?  Kecia Waters on the blog today with a coaster I made in preparation for Saturday's Big Game.  Did you know that it was the Emerald Backdrop Die Set and the "Ohio Game Day" stamp set that made me a A Jillian Vance Design fan?

To make this coaster, I used the AJVD Emerald Backdrop Die Set to cut a "Block O" from red cardstock.   I then stamped the O shaped background stamp from the AJVD "Ohio Game Day" stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black.  I edged the "Block O" with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker.  Using the leaf die from the AJVD Emerald Backdrop Die Set I cut three leaves from a patterned paper scrap from American Crafts.  The "buckeye" was hand-drawn with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker onto X-Press it cardstock and colored with Copic markers.  I assembled the "Block O" and adhered it to a square of gray plaid paper framed with patterned paper from K&Company.  The sentiment from the "Ohio Game Day" stamp set was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black.

I sprayed my design with Workable Fixative because I read somewhere that this helps keep the colors vibrant during this process.

Then, using a 16 cents ceramic tile from Home Depot, I spread Artsy Collage Decoupage gel with a foam brush onto the tile and adhered my square creation.  I then took the same brush and applied more gel on top of the image, smoothing out the bubbles as best as I could.  I allowed the coaster to dry overnight.

Upon waking the next day, I sprayed an acrylic glossy sealer to waterproof my coaster.  I affixed felt to the bottom of the coaster to prevent scratches on table services.
