Building Backgrounds with Joy

Good morning! Ardyth here again, with another idea for using die cuts to build a background. This time I used 4 of the Eight Point stars to build an unexpected pattern.

I cut them and took them apart to separate out all the pieces that needed to stay white from the pieces that I blended ink onto. I used two colours of ink to keep the colours from being too 'flat'.

When I'm blending ink onto a lot of little pieces at once, I like to use temporary adhesive on a piece of scrap paper to hold them in place. It goes much faster, makes sure that I don't lose any, and keeps my fingers cleaner than if I was blending ink onto each piece individually.
When everything was dry, I inlaid the pieces back in to create a 6x6" panel, which I cut down with a square die to fit on my 4.25" square card.

You could also cut 4 more of the stars, using coloured cardstock to create a similar look. BONUS: You'll have enough pieces get 4 reverse stars (white outlines with blue stars) if you do it this way!

I finished the card with a small circle and a die cut Joy sentiment from the Vintage Ornaments set.
