Hello and happy Wednesday AJVD fans! Rosemary here for my final guest designer spot here on the blog. I have had alot of fun and want to give a big thank you to Jillian and Bunny for having me! I'm sharing one more project that I created using the Fresh Florals: Cascade. My project today is a mixed media one. I hope you like it! I'm going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge of wild and wonderful.
I know alot of you have seen those beautiful butterfly stamps where half the butterfly is floral and the other half is a butterfly. When I saw the card that Bunny made using the Fresh Florals: Cascade stamp set and the Bold Butterfly die I immediately thought about doing something similar, but in a mixed media format. I don't have lots of photos to share because this is my second time really creating a mixed media piece and so I was just focused on getting it completed. I used the largest vignette box from Tim Holtz and painted it with white paint. I added some butterfly washi tape to the edges (you will see that in a second photo) and then sealed it with collage medium. I trimmed down a piece of patterned paper from P13 to fit the vignette box (I flipped the box over to use the back as the front) and then distressed the edges. I used a distress crayon in shabby shutters (green) around the edges of the paper and then used my finger to rub it in. Once I had the piece to my liking I adhered it to the box with collage medium and let it dry. Before adhering the paper to the box I did stamp the floral image on the paper with a very light gray ink. I then stamped the image on additional patterned paper and vellum. When I stamped the image on the vellum I used watermark ink and heat embossed with Kitsch Flamingo distress glaze. I then die cut each image and added distressing with my distress tool and more Shabby Shutters distress crayon. By the time I finished the collage medium had dried and so I added some crackle texture paste and then sprinkled on Kitsch Flamingo and Fossilized Amber distress glazes. Most of it did not stick, but I liked the look of just a hint of the distress glaze. Once that was dry I heated the distress glaze. I finished by adding some distress watermark ink, sprinkling on more distress glaze in the Kitsch Flamingo and Fossilized Amber and then heat setting.
Stunning mixed media project, Rosemary! Just love the floral bunch as a butterfly!!
