thankful, grateful, blessed

Hey friends!  Rosemary here and I'm back with another foiled card.  As I said last week I like using my cutting dies to add foiled details to my cards.  Some cutting dies foil better than others so you have to just give it a try and see what happens.  With this card I used the Stitched Plaid cover plate die and the maple leaf from the Grand Leaf Trio die set.  The sentiments are from the OWL Give Thanks stamp set.

I had to do some experimenting to determine the best way to foil the cover plate and die cut it.  I first tried foiling the cover plate and then trimming it down, but that did not come out well.  So I decided to die cut the cardstock using the largest die from the Stitched Dot rectangle die and then laid the cover plate on top, added the foiling and then placed washi tape on both ends to keep everything in place.   Creating the panel in this way worked fairly well.  I did have some overfoiling, but was able to clean that up.   I used orange foil and it looks really pretty in real life, but hard to see in the photo.  I have a second photo below that hopefully shows the foiling a little better.    For the leaf and the little tag (from the Minnie Pearl Bookmark die set) I inked up some smooth bristol cardstock with Distress Oxide inks in Fired Brick, Mustard Seed and Brushed Corduroy.   I die cut both and then stamped the small sentiments on the tag using VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne ink.  I slipped the tag over the stem of the leaf and adhered them together with a little bit of Just Glue It adhesive.  I used foam dimensionals to adhere the leaf and tag to the panel and then finished the card off with a little bow.  I'm pretty happy with how the background turned.  It is subtle, but adds a nice touch to the card.
