Fall is in the Air

Hi there friends!
I am so excited to be posting today as your newest member of the Design Team! I will be here on the blog every Tuesday to share some inspiration using Jillian Vance Design products with you!

I have been stamping for over 25 years now. My very first cardmaking purchase was a couple rubber, woodblocks stamps, embossing ink and gold embossing powder because I saw a Christmas card sample in the store that I wanted to mass produce--how hard could that be? Let me say I was hooked! I have been scrapbooking since my teens and primarily making cards for the last 10 years. I live in the beautiful Muskokas of Ontario, Canada. I have been married to my highschool sweetheart for 28 years and we have two awesome adult kids--Ben who is 23 and Brooklyn who is 21. Creating makes me happy and I try to fit a bit of crafty time into every day!

It is still summer around my parts, but fall is definitely on it's way. I can see the leaves are starting very slowly to change colour, it's still a hot summer but at night the temperature drops with the sun and the days are definitely getting shorter.

So the perfect time to create a card to send to a friend for fall using the newly released Best of Fall stamp set!

To create my cad I started off by stamping and die cutting some images from the Best of  Fall stamp set using Copic friendly ink.  I coloured the pumpkin and the three sunflowers from the best of Fall stamp set. Nothing like starting off my term with something shocking, but I did some stamp amputation with the sunflower in a pot image, cutting off the planter pot so I could stamp the flower without it as though it is in a field! No harm to the stamp, when I want to stamp the sunflower in the pot it is an easy mend on the acrylic block 😉

I set those images aside and went to work on my background. I used the Elegant Edges die to create a mask for where my field meets the sky! I die cut onto a strip of wide Post it tape, used the bottom of the sky to mask my background while I created the sky using Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide inks. Then I used the top of the mask to sponge my grassy field using Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide inks. Once the panel was done I splattered some watered down Copic Opaque White over the panel. It is kind of cool to see how it reacts with the Oxide inks changing colour as it dries. Once dry I stamped my sentiment and adhered the images with tape runner and some foam tape for dimension. I finished it up by adding a bit of white gel pen for extra detail.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope I inspired you to check out this cute stamp set!  See you next time!
