My absolute favorite season for papercrafting is Halloween. Kecia Waters, guest posting on the blog today, sharing a couple of fun bookmarks for Halloween.
The above picture features my first bookmark using the AJVD bookmark die from the "Minnie Pearl Bookmark" die set and the AJVD stamp set "Witch Book?" I cut the bookmark using the bookmark die from the "Minnie Pearl Bookmark" die set, using both black cardstock and some patterned paper from The Paper Studio to ensure durability. On a piece of X-Press It cardstock, I stamped the witch's hat from "Witch Book?" using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I carefully used a yellow waterbased marker to color in the buckle. I sprinkled clear embossing powder and heat embossed the hat. I then fussy cut around the image and adhered to the bookmark. I then stamped the sentiment from "Witch Book?" using Versafine Onyx Black and sprinkled clear embossing powder and heat embossed. Some baker's twine was tied at the top.
My second bookmark was made as a result of playing with Distress Oxides on Black cardstock. I cut a piece of black cardstock and orange cardstock from the bookmark die in the "Minnie Pearl Bookmark" die set and adhered together for durability. On the black cardstock, I stamped both the witches legs and the sentiment from "Witch Book?" with white pigment ink. I sprinkled white embossing powder on both and applied heat to heat emboss.
Then on my craft mat, I smeared some Distress Oxide Spiced Marmalade and some Distress Oxide Black Soot and spritzed some water. With a paint brush, I picked up some of the Spiced Marmalade Oxide and painted the legs. I then flicked some of the Oxide all over the bookmark and heat set. I did the same thing with the Black Soot Oxide. I just love using Distress Oxides on black. The result is pretty spectacular, or in this case, spooky. Like on the first bookmark, some baker's twine was tied at the top of the bookmark.
