Sea You Later, Retiring Stamp Set

AJVD, Kecia Waters, Copic markers, sponging, sailboat
I must have a hard time saying goodbye to stamp sets.  This is a card I made with the retiring A Jillian Vance Design stamp set "Ahoy!"  At the time of this blog post, only two sets remain, so you better hurry if you see the endless possibilities of this set like I do.  Kecia Waters on the blog today, sharing the results of me playing around with this amazing set.

To make the card you see above, I took a strip of X-Press It cardstock and brayered Adirondack Sunshine Yellow dye ink on two-thirds of the strip.  I then sponged some Adirondack Sunset Orange dye ink along the top of the strip and along edge where the Adirodack Sunshine Yellow dye ended.  I colored the ocean with Copic markers, and added some white highlights with a gel pen from Gelly Roll.  With Versafine Onyx Black I stamped the sailboat into the scene, and framed the scene with black cardstock.  I placed the scene onto a square panel of white cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment, also from "Ahoy!" with Verasfine Onxy Black, right next to the scene.

The above card is a scene I had in my mind as soon as I saw this set for the first time.  I have a thing for creating ocean scenes and sunrises/sunsets.  To make this card, I brayered Adirondack Sunshine Yellow dye ink onto a piece of X-Press It cardstock, two thirds down the paper.  I then took a Post-It note and punched a circle shape with a punch.  I placed the circle onto the cardstock and proceeded to sponge around the mask with more Adirondack Sunshine Yellow dye ink and Adirondack Sunset Orange.  Then I drew in the ocean with Copic markers.  The sailboat and sentiment from "Ahoy!" was stamped with Versafine Onxy Black.  I framed the scene with black cardstock and placed on a white cardfront panel.

This card above was made from a scrap.  I noticed that the paper that I was using that protected my work surface while I was brayering and sponging Adirondack Sunshine Yellow dye ink and Adirondack Sunset Orange looked rather interesting and colorful, so I cut it and drew in the ocean with Copics and then stamped the sentiment from "Ahoy!" with Versafine Onyx Black.  I framed it with black cardstock and put on a white card base.
