Holly Christmas Card

Hello, Lisa Hoel here with a guest post to share with you today. Beat the summer heat by creating some cool Christmas cards – you'll be ahead of the game come December! I used the Holly & Swirls die set and new Simply Noted: Holly Stamp Set to create a distinctive mixed media card:

I created the background panel by die cutting holly out of white cardstock and gluing it onto a rectangular piece of white cardstock cut to fit the front of the card. I covered it all with a thin coat of gesso to seal it. When that was dry I misted it with Spray Distress Stains and water so the colors blended and caught in the nooks and crannies of the holly cuts. A little Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold mist added a nice shimmer. This is a great technique to put a new twist on your dies and use them in a different way. I always like to think of new and interesting applications to get more mileage from my craft supplies!

The green band stamped with the holly I embossed with clear embossing powder to really make the design pop and give it a bit of texture. The vintage image is a free download from the web. I sized in it Photoshop so the Christmas Blessings sentiment stamp would fit perfectly under it.

Thanks for stopping by! Now go and get creative! ;-)
