Aloha... September!

Hello!  Can you believe that it is already September?  I can't... and neither can Hootie the Owl!  He still wants to soak up some rays on a sandy beach in Hawai'i!   This idea has been rolling around in my mind all summer, but I have been so busy with tons of other projects that I wasn't able to get it made until now.

I started my card by creating the background.  I used a stencil and Tumbled Glass distress oxide ink to create my background.  I then did some simple blending of Antique Linen distress oxide on the bottom for sand.  I also blended some Antique Linen on a scrap piece of white cardstock and die cut two little sandy hills.   The rest is pretty much all die cutting.  I die cut Hootie from kraft and dark brown cardstocks and then added additional detailing with Copic markers.  The palm tree was die cut from kraft and two shades of green.  I also added detailing to them with Copics.  I kept things simple by using one of the green cardstocks I used for the palm to cut part of his swim trucks and then the other part I cut from blue along with his sunglasses.  I die cut the sunglasses a second time from black cardstock and inlaid the black pieces into the blue sunglass rims.  I added white highlight details to his shades.   I determined where I was going to place the palm and Hootie and then stamped the sentiment from the Let's Talk Hawai'ian stamp set.   Once the sentiment was stamped I layered up all the elements and I was done.  Hootie looks so relaxed!
