you are pearfection...

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Can you believe it is already April?  Time is absolutely flying by isn't it?  I have a card that I made using a newly released stamp and die set from A Jillian Vance Design called PEARfect.   Making something with this fun stamp and die combo has been at the top of my list since I received the set in the mail!  I even used a fun technique that I learned from Jennifer McGuire.

This card is pretty simple because I wanted that beautiful pear to take center stage.  I will be honest and tell you that I don't often watch videos, but when I saw this video by Jennifer McGuire I had to give this technique a try!  It is a super simple one and if you like to get messy with distress oxide inks then it is one for you!    I started by looking at an actual pear to get the color combination I wanted.  I then applied distress oxide inks in Peeled Paint, Lucky Clover and Cracked Pistachio to my craft mat and spritzed with water.  I then smooshed some gloss cardstock (to get the best results you have to use gloss cardstock!) into the inks.  I let each layer dry (another must do!) and then added additional layers of color.  I finished with Fired Brick to get the reddish tint to the pear.  When the whole thing is dry you apply Tim Holtz' Micro Glaze to the cardstock and watch the colors pop!  Once that was done I die cut the pear and leaf.  I used a strip of the cardstock for my sentiment that I stamped in VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I adhered the strip to white cardstock and die cut it with the largest Rectangle Backdrop die.  The second leaf was attached with the Multi Medium (matte) and I was done.  Can't wait to try this technique again!
