I Be-Leaf in You

Good morning! Ardyth here, rushing the seasons a little, because I am so excited to play with some of the newest A Jillian Vance Design products - Grand Leaf Trio, Be-Leaf in Yourself and *coming soon* Elegant Stitched Dot Edger dies!

I started by trimming a white panel to 3.5 x 4.75. I then cut it twice with the curved *coming soon* Elegant Stitched Dot Edger die, moving it slightly to create this opening arc shape.

Then I cut two of the leaves from white and I cut another white panel the same size as the first. I love that the leaves also have stitching on them - they fit right in with the white focal panel. Next, I started blending with Distress Inks. Here are some tips for a 'perfect blend'.

  • Choose colours that are next to each other on the colour wheel.
  • Choose more colours than you think you need. You may think that my blend is 3 colours - yellow-orange-red, but it's really  5: Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Carved Pumpkin, Ripe Persimmon and Fired Brick - the closer the colours are to each other, the better they blend.
  • I start light to dark and then work my way back to light - going over the blended area helps to make the transition more smooth
  • Splatter with some water droplets - it creates visual interest and helps hide any 'less than perfect' areas.

Finally, I created my own sentiment with some masking of some of the other punny sentiments included in the set - you can almost always find some flexibility to create a variation of your own in a sentiment set.
