Sometimes, it's the simplicity of a card, that warms the recipient's heart. Kecia Waters here on the blog today with a CAS card featuring the neutral colors of white, black and gray, along with a pop of red.
To make this square card, I stamped the birch trees from the stamp set "In the Meadow" by Whimsie Doodles onto a piece of X-Press It cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink. I did some slight shading with a Copic marker, and then masked the trees with some masking film. I also masked a line for the snow. I sponged Marvy Grey dye ink for the sky. Then for a special effect I dropped some water droplets directly onto the paper and allowed them to dry. I added a few dots of Copic white for snowflakes. I then removed the masks, and drew the snow line with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker.
On a scrap piece of X-Press It cardstock, I stamped the cardinal from the stamp set "Winter Woodland", also by Whimsie Doodles with Memento Tuxedo Black. I colored with Copic markers and fussy cut. I adhered the cardinal to one of the birch branches.
The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and can be found in the set "In The Meadow".
I framed the scene with black cardstock and placed on a gray cardstock panel.
